Carrie Girimonte
Obituary
Carrie Girimonte Dec. 31, 1908 - Dec. 14, 2005 Carrie
Girimonte passed away peacefully on December 14th at the age of 96. She was greeted by her beloved husband of
47 years, Frank Sr. & her youngest son Frank Jr. She is survived by her three children, Joseph Girimonte,
Carole Straughn and James Girimonte; two sisters, Louise Bills, Alma Pastega; six grandchildren, twelve
great-grandchildren & fourteen nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her energy, her love and her smile.
Carrie was born in 1908 in the small town of Mt. Shasta, California, one of twelve children (eleven daughters
and one son) to Louis and Emilia Solari. The Solari family was one of the leading families in town, at various
times owning the bank, bakery, hotel, furniture store and clothing store. Carrie loved spending time at her
father's side and over the years she regaled her family with tales of her adventures during her youth in Mt.
Shasta. Following marriage in 1927 to Frank Girimonte, Carrie and Frank raised four children in Mt. Shasta
prior to moving to Richmond in 1943. In Richmond, as before, Carrie devoted herself to their growing family.
During her long life Carrie loved to tend her garden, cook for her family (seldom needing a recipe), play
piano (with Pico, her singing dog), and spend time with her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
And, if there was music in the room, Carrie would be the first one on, and the last one off, the dance floor,
outdancing and outlasting the young and the old. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a favorite charity would
be appreciated. Services will be held at Wilson & Kratzer Mortuary, Civic Center Chapel, 510-232-4383 on
Thurs., Dec. 22, 2005 at 1:00pm, with internment at St. Joseph's Cemetery in San Pablo to follow. Wilson &
Kratzer Mortuary, 510-232-4383
